Baby growing up - Part 1

My mother always telling me the story that I can start talking/produce first meaningful word very early on in my infant stage of life when I was 10 months old even before I can stand up straight. It's very interesting for an infant (infans in Latin means speechless, inarticulate and unable to speak) to start talking. Infancy range from 1 month old to 12 months old. Normally documented source would point out that kids would start talking at age of 12 months.

My first word is "Ah Ma" -> Grandmother and from the description of my mother, i called every old woman Ah Ma. Hahaha... Beware! You might be my next Ah Ma if you weren't young enough. Out of my curiosity I make some further reading on Pediatric Normal Developmental Milestone, since I have to know it eventually when I be posted in Pediatric ward in near future. In part 1, I would share the Chinese version of developmental milestone and translated them into English. Part 2 would be written in such a way to compare the Chinese version with the English version of developmental milestone after i did my further reading on Nelson Essential of Pediatric.

I like the Chinese version because it is arrange in the form of jingle and is more easier to remember than the serious looking table arrangement of information in Englsih version. Also, since I can better understand Chinese than English. I am always not a good English text reader and writer, as you can see, i did a lot of grammatical error in my composition. Hope there is someone who can help me to proof read.

Here it comes! the Chinese version of developmental milestone created by a professor in China.

一听 // 二看 // 三抬头; //  四撑 // 五抓 // 六翻身; //  七坐 // 八爬 // 九扶立;  // 十二个月左右能独走. 

Every "//" represent separate event in each month until 12 months of age. "一听" means in age of 1 month, the infant can listen to sound. "二看" at age of 2 months, the infant can see things. "三抬头" at age of 3 months, infant can lift up their head. "四撑" at age of 4 months, baby can steady their head and support their body with their hand. "五抓" at age of 5 months, baby can grasp thing using their hand. "六翻身" at age of 6 months, baby can roll over. "七坐" at age of 7 months, baby can sit without support. "八爬" at age of 8 months, baby can start crawling. "九扶立" at age of 9 months, baby can stand up with support. "十二个月左右能独走" at age of 1, toddler can walk without support/aids.

一哭//二笑//三认母;// 四月大笑//五认生;// 七月无意说爸妈;// 八月有意仿大人;// 十月招手会再见;// 一岁以后能说话//. 

一哭 at age of 1 month, baby can cry (of course! we start crying when we are born. How suffering life can be ?! hahaha) 二笑 at age of 2 months, baby can smile. 三认母 at age of 3 months, baby can recognise the care giver. 四月大笑 at age of 4 months, a baby can laugh out loud! Parents might like it when this happen. 五认生, at age of 5 months, a baby start to recognize stranger. Oh no what a weird world with weird faces! 七月无意说爸妈,at age of 7 months, baby starts to babble and making noise. 八月有意仿大人 at age of 8 months, baby starts to mimicking adult. beware wild Ditto appeared. 十月招手会再见 at age of 10 months, baby starts to use hand gesture to wave hello and bye bye~一岁以后能说话 after age of 1 year, toddler starts to talk.

Motor development of baby: 二抬 at age of 2 months baby can lift up their head. this statement is somehow 1 month earlier than the previous statement.四翻at age of 4 months, baby can roll over, this is also earlier than as the previously stated 六会坐 at age of 6 months, the baby can sit upright without support. 七滚 at age of 7 months, the baby know how to roll over. 八爬 at 8 months, baby can crawl. 周会走 at 1 year old, the toddler can walk.

The neurological development of baby. 一哭 the first month, baby knows how to cry. 三笑, at age of 3 months, the baby learn how to smile/laugh. 四认母, a baby starts recognise his/her caregiver/mother. 七抓 at 7th month, a baby start to grasp object with hand. 八语 at 8 months , baby can start producing sound/language

2、3抬头笑认妈，//4、5翻身辨声佳，//6、7会坐学咿呀，//8、9爬行10叫爸，//12开步//15走，//看图说话在18，//3岁学穿鞋和袜 。//
2、3抬头笑认妈, at age of 2/3 months a baby can lift up their head , smile and recognise their mother. 4、5翻身辨声佳 at age of 4/5 months, a baby can recognise sounds and can roll over. 6、7会坐学咿呀 6/7months, a baby can babble.and can sit upright. 8、9爬行 8/9 months, baby can start to crawl. 10叫爸, at age of 10 months, a baby can call "ba"(dad), cause i am not sure if that's a babble or true meaningfull language.12开步 at age of 1 year, the toddler walk their first step. 15走 at 15 months. a toddler can walk freely. 看图说话在18, at age of 18, the toddler can understand picture and speak fluently. 3岁学穿鞋和袜 at age of 3 years old, the children can put on cloth independently. Phiew! wow, a big relieve for parents who working hard for 2 years. 

Well, i don't think i am so special to be able to talk at the age of 10 months afterall. However, there is something peculiar about my handed-ness which i will describe in next post. I am always confused about whether i am a right-handed person or left-handed person, because of my quirkiness at the aspect of hand tools usage. I will discuss about human hand in future post.

I am just as curious as Olaf! Ya Why?
